In the capacity of an API-architect, you assume a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the management and design of API's (Application Programming Interfaces). Your primary objective is to harmonize the requirements of developers with the strategic and technological roadmaps derived from the business objectives, ensuring the creation of highly efficient, effective, scalable, and secure API's for software applications and systems. Innovation plays a critical role in this context.
Your responsibilities
- Designing, implementing, and testing API's using the latest technologies and best practices, along with API-management software (such as Apigee or Swagger). This includes activities like analytics, API proxies, monetization, and security to ensure robustness;
- Managing project, end-user and vendor relationships;
- Gathering and documenting requirements, designs, test scripts and architecture, as well as assisting in responding to (request for) proposals);
- Agile project delivery;
- Communicating about risks, challenges, issues and project progress;
- Collaborating with API functional architects to define the technical API roadmap, strategy, and solution (evolving from SOA to API's).
Who you are
- A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer science, Software engineering or a related field;
- In-depth knowledge and expertise in API-design and development; knowledge of best practices, version control systems, programming languages (f.e. Java, Python or others) and familiarity with API-management tools (f.e. Apigee, Swagger);
- Strong architectural and design skills, including the ability to create scalable, efficient, and secure API's.
- Experience with agile development methodologies and the ability to work in agile teams; experience with documentation and performance optimisation;
- Excellent communication skills and strong analytical - and problem solving skills;
- Mentoring and (team) leadership skills.
